Previously I had incorporated a music video from “Weird Al” Yankovic into my classroom teaching. The video for his parody of Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA,” “Party at the CIA” allowed me, in a very humorous way, to introduce the concept of the CIA and what they did in their early years when teaching Contemporary Studies at Cabell Midland High School.
Now Mr. Yankovic has released a new album and one of his parodies would fit very well into English/Language Arts classes. “Word Crimes,” a parody of “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke, is hilarious, but illustrates several major errors that a lot of people make in their grammar and word usage.
